Musings for Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity & The Feast Day of Saint Philip Neri
This Sunday we celebrate Trinity Sunday, and the Gospel reminds us that our God is with us until the end of time! Scripture frequently reminds us that God is near to us and within us – we are temples where God dwells. When our lives are challenging and we are not sure where to turn, it is good to remember the promises of God.
This Sunday we also celebrate our patron saint, Philip Neri. St. Philip is known for his wit, his generosity and hospitality and it is reported that he said, “A joyful heart is more easily made perfect than a downcast one.” I hope many of us will gather on Sunday for our potluck, to celebrate his life and to connect with one another. While it is important to pray, it is also important to support, encourage and to share life with one another.
Following my return from St. Albert and the gathering of Oblates and Associates from OMI Lacombe Canada, and the visit of our Vicar General Fr. Antoni Bocham, OMI and our Provincial Superior Monday and Tuesday of this week, one of our Oblates, Fr. Wendelin Rolheiser fell ill. Fr. Wendelin passed away on Wednesday, May 22. The Vigil of Prayer for Fr. Wendelin will take place here at the Parish on Sunday night, May 26, at 7:00 pm. We will celebrate his funeral on Monday, May 27, at 10:00 am.
I will be away on Tuesday, May 28. We will have a lay-presided service on Tuesday morning. I will return to the Parish Office on Wednesday, May 29. |
