Epiphany 2025
In Matthew’s gospel, the Magi ask, “Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews?” They have been studying and searching and travelling, looking for the child who will change the world.
Sometimes I get up in the morning and I am worried about the work that awaits me. I give little thought to searching for the child who has the capacity to transform the world. Today, as we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany, we are invited to examine our life, our world, our earth and pose a question: Where is the child?
At times because of my life situation, I don’t have time to ponder where Christ is present in my life. Can I recognize Christ prompting me to recognize him in my heart? Can I recognize Christ present in those around me? Can I recognize Christ present in creation? Can I recognize Christ present in the liturgy we celebrate and, in the Word, proclaimed, and in the host I receive?
Christ continues to reveal himself to us. As we celebrate this Feast of the Epiphany, let us once again open our eyes and our hearts to recognize him in the ordinary things we do. |
